Lima II

18 oktober 2015 - Lima, Peru

It's almost time to leave Lima again. In the last two days I have seen quite a lot of the city. The first thing I tried to visit was the Huacu Pucllana pyramid, which is located in Miraflores, the same part of the city as my hostel. However, the guy selling tickets wouldn't let me in because he had no change for the ticket and I didn't have the exact amount of Soles..

Instead of visiting the pyramid I joined a free city tour in the center of Lima, and I really enjoyed it! We went from the main square, plaza mayor, to many surrounding churches and houses, we saw the changing of the guard at Plaza Mayor and we joined a Pisco tasting. After the tour I had a typical Peruvian lunch, ceviches and arroz con pollo, with two guys I met during the tour. Together with the Japanese Katsumi I visited some other churches and Chinatown. In the evening, we went to the sea side to enjoy the view.

The next day, I gave Huaca Pucllana another try, this time together with Katsumi and exactly 5 soles. We had a tour around the mudbrick pyramid, I am glad I tried to go again because it was very nice to see! The rest of the day consisted of a lot of jumping on and of busses and closed musea.. We found the Museo de la Nacion to be closed, as well as the Metropolitan museum. Luckily, we could visit some parks, amongst others one where they were organizing a chihuahua contest and one with the largest fountain complex of the world. We saw the fountains during the dark and they were amazing to see, with many coloured lights!

Now I am waiting for my plane to Cusco, which is leaving two hours earlier than planned.

Hi Dear, What a warm welcome to Peru. A Chihuahua contest in the park... it sounds typical South American. Enjoy Cusco!
